As children move from developing basic skills to developing independence the Maple room provides a perfect space for this. The playroom is large and open but still has a warm and cosy feel to it.
We use real, natural resources where we can to make the space homely, welcoming and familiar whilst sparking curiosity and providing holistic play and learning opportunities. The room is carefully planned out to allow growing children to have freedome to move, choose and be responsible for their own play and leanring. A balance of child and adult led planning advises the set up and provision on a regular basis so that the playroom represents and is suitable for the specific interests and learning needs of those using it.
There is direct access to our garden for free flow outdoor play and provides great opportunties to develop indepncende and safety skills.
Children's needs are considered on an individual basis via careful and regular care planning and our team work to manage the playroom in a way that allows varying needs to be met at all times of the day. Although this play room has an older age group the space and team are still equipped to support with varying meal, toileting and sleep needs as we understand every child is unique.
A cosy sleep and relaxation space is joined to this play room which allows those hcidlren who need it to rest. Floorbeds and safe sleep bedding is provided for children who sleep and the room is monitored carefully. For relaxation and regualtion purposes some chidlren will use this space as a sesnory room.
A well equipped kitchen allows children to experience hassle free meal times without leaving the play space. There is a mixed provision of either packed lunches or school meals at lunch time as well as nursery provided morning and afternoon snacks which can be fully adapted to meet requirements.
The room has two bathrooms, one which chidlren who toilet independently can use and one which is supported for those who require nappy chnaging or support with potty trianing. This allows a well balanced offer for independent or adult support care provision.
The playroom also uses e-journals for all children to share their learning and development as well as an e-floorbook to share room and nursery wide learning and opportunities.
